Frigocaserta expands cold storage capacity with new development

April 11, 2024

Frigocaserta, a leading cold storage provider in Southern Italy, part of CubeCold group, is expanding its storage capacity with a new redevelopment project.
Strategically located near the Port of Napoli and key distribution channels, Frigocaserta has been serving major grocery retailers and food producers for nearly five decades.

Gerben Paauve, CEO of CubeCold, underlines the importance of the project: “This redevelopment project is not just about expanding our capacity; it’s a strategic step forward in enhancing our service excellence, sustainability, and our ability to meet the evolving needs of our customers. Italy remains a key focus for CubeCold, and this project underscores our long-term commitment to driving growth and innovation in the region.”

With a current capacity of 67,500 pallet positions across multiple temperature zones, Frigocaserta has established itself as a trusted name in the industry. The company’s extensive experience and deep understanding of customers’ needs have been instrumental in its success.

The new facility

The new development, set to be completed in September 2024, will replace a previous facility damaged by a fire in November 2021. The redeveloped building will have a total capacity of 7,800 pallets and will feature 1,480 square meters of unshelved storage and 6,320 shelved pallet positions, an increase of 800 pallets from its pre-fire capacity. The facility will offer frozen and chilled temperature zones to accommodate diverse customer needs.

Domenico Razzano, the General Director of Frigocaserta, shared his insights on the project: “Our new structure is flexible, capable of serving both new grocery customers and customers already in the portfolio who have experienced significant growth in recent years. The new project, in addition to ensuring a greater amount of storage, is also more environmentally sustainable than the building destroyed in November 2021.

The new refrigeration systems will be equipped with the newest technologies that ensure a lower environmental impact. In addition to customer satisfaction, Frigocaserta has always invested in renewable technologies and sustainability. In fact, we currently have 5.2 mega photovoltaic systems installed and in 2024 we want to expand the installations. So, the ongoing investment also goes in the direction of environmental sustainability.”

Strategic expansion

With the addition of the new facility, Frigocaserta’s total capacity will exceed 75,000 pallet positions, strengthening its position as the leading cold storage provider in Southern Italy.

“The redevelopment work started in late 2023. The new facility will not only allow us to better serve our existing customers but also attract new business opportunities”
